Without traffic you have nothing, period. The obvious answer is Search Engine Optimization (SEO). But in reality what we are looking for in simple terms is other websites linking back to ours.
Since you are probably not an SEO guru, lets focus on organic traffic from high ranking sites. The higher that website is ranked, the better it will be for us. So here are 7 websites that will help you get some traffic back to your website. Just remember the common theme to using these websites is to provide a valuable response, solve a problem, and remind people of the source. ie. your blog.
1. Gravity
Gravity is a very new website and concept. It is similar to online forums but focuses on what is interesting to you. It connects people with shared interests thus creating meaningful discussion.
So if your blog niche is Gardening for example, you should search for interests similar to your niche. That way you can communicate to your target audience.
With Gravity you can pick up to 3 keywords at a time and it will find groups that are talking about your topics. You can give a link back to a blog post or article just like other networks and forums. This is critical in generating links back to your blog.
2. Answerbag.com
Another great website where you can generate links back to a source by answering questions. Sign up for a free account, answer questions related to your niche by scouting through categories and topics. Engage in conversation and answer questions. Write a blog post to answer the questions and provide a link to that article. This should help increase traffic to your blog.
3. EzineArticles
One of the largest article based websites on the Internet, Ezine allows members to submit articles relating to a wide variety of topics. You can get some really nice organic traffic back to your blog by writing an article and providing a link back to your blog in your member profile.
4. Squidoo
Squidoo is another great platform that alows you to create articles called “lenses” which allow you to write about many categories. You can even make some money while doing this. Affiliate marketing is very prominent with squidoo. The key is to create valuable content and solve a problem. You can also use lenses to drive traffic to your blog or website.
5. HubPages
Another great website that allows you to build up a reader base, earn rewards via adsense, and communicate to your niche audience. Hubpages allows you to make money from your articles that you write though affiliate accounts with Google, Kontera, eBay, and Amazon. On top of directing traffic to your blog, creating a following, and helping others by solving problems, you can also make a decent amount of money in the process!
6. Askville by Amazon
Another great resource is Amazon’s new askville. Similar to yahoo answers, askville lets you ask a question and get an answer. Although not as active as yahoo answers, askville is another resource you should actively visit, answer questions, and provide valuable links back to your blog.
7. Yahoo Answers
And finally Yahoo Answers is one of the top sites we reccommend for creating respectful link traffic to your blog. Spamming will not get you anywhere here though. You need to give your best answers and only link back to your blog if it is relevant. We like to answer questions by writing a long blog post, answering the question and linking back to the blog post as a source. 100% legitimate and no spamming.
There are plenty of other options like commenting on other blog’s within your niche, becoming active on forums, and other sites to help you drive traffic to your blog.
