Google is celebrating and remembering Robert Noyce today by honoring him with their front page Google Doodle of a microchip.

Noyce was known for co-founding Intel along with Gordon Moor, in 1968. You can argue that Noyce was responsible for the personal computer revolution and even giving rise to Sillicon Valley where the Google we know today was born and raised.

Post image for Spotify Adds Searchable Options for Moodagent, Soundrop and Last.fm

Music was never this much fun. Are you old enough to remember playing all four sides of the Beatles The White Album for the first time? Line up the needle just right, so you don’t scratch it. After all, you had to babysit four weekends straight to save up the money to buy it.

The white vinyl was so cool you just stared at it as you listened and the rest of the world melted away. Obla Di, Obla Da…No idea what I am talking about? Never Mind.

Spotify App is the most intuitive and easy to use music app even the older generation can enjoy all the apps built inside. When you log in the first time, log in with your Facebook account because Spotify is fully integrated so you can share your music with your 700 closest friends. →Keep Reading

The total number of Gmail users was last estimated at close to 200 million according to Quora. So the chances that you have seen the ongoing changes to Gmail’s interface is good. The Gmail Team recently talked about the recent Gmail changes and explained in great detail the obstacles the team faced during the transition from old Gmail to new Gmail.

Oh, and by the way, if you have not seen the new blog format of the Official Gmail Blog, it’s worth checking out. It seems to be part of the new interface Google has been rolling out over the last few months since Google Plus was released.

Developing the new look for Gmail was like the proverbial “changing tires on a moving car” – only that the car is carrying hundreds of millions of users and is under constant construction and development. The two main technologies that we use for these types of projects in Gmail are “conditional features” and “Javascript mods” (other Google products use very similar systems). Both technologies were particularly important for testing the new look. →Keep Reading

Microsoft is trying really hard to showcase their new Windows Phone operating system. It’s unlikely many iOS and Android users will make the switch to a Windows Phone, and so Microsoft has decided to create a very slick online web demo of its new Windows Phone operating system.

It’s designed to run on your iPhone or Android web browser which will showcase the new “Metro” user interface in HTML 5.

The demo will show other smart phone users what the Metro UI looks like without the need to actually go into the store. This is a good strategy by Microsoft but will it work? They are using JavaScript and WebKit CSS animation features to limit the demo to WebKit browsers used on iOS and Android. →Keep Reading

Many active Twitter users do most of their sharing in bursts. It’s only natural considering you probably sit down at your computer for an hour or so every day to do your main news reading and sharing during that time. The problem is that your followers will get a big giant burst of tweets from you each day that will knock everything else off the top of their twitter feed. Too much tweet spam could lead to unfollows for  your account if you are not careful. That is where Buffer comes in.

With the Buffer application you get a browser extension that allows you to send tweets to your Buffer account instead of sending them live to your Twitter feed. You set up times spread throughout the day for Buffer to post a few of your tweets at a time. What sets Buffer apart from similar apps is that you don’t have to set up a time for each of your tweets to launch. You just set up your posting time frames once and then fill up your Buffer feed with content without worrying about scheduling ever again. It’s a simple and elegant solution to ensure you don’t clog your follower’s feeds.

Post image for Report Says Mobile Payments Could Grow 76% For 2011

If you are still doubting that mobile payment systems are the way of the future…well STOP IT! Global payments with mobile phones are expected to be up 76% over the year before. The dollar value of mobile transactions is expected to be $86.1 billion in 2011. Compare that to the system’s paltry $48.9 billion in 2010 and this year’s haul becomes even more impressive. Post image for Facebook Comments Now As Interactive As Wall Posts

Recently Facebook announced it will be making some changes to what can be posted in comment replies. Currently it is not possible to post an image, video or link and have it show up in the comment thread itself when you reply to someone’s wall post. But soon Facebook is going to fix that. Comments will now work exactly the way original posts do, meaning when you post multimedia, a thumbnail preview will be viewable inside the comment thread and users won’t need to go to an external page to view it.
